Route to Pedra Furada

PATH TO PEDRA FURADA

Information

The journey to Pedra Furada is much more than just the final destination. There are two beautiful routes to reach Ceará’s famous postcard. When the tide is low, it is possible to see some natural aquariums full of colorful fish, some of which can only be reached with guidance from local guides. This is a route around the edge of Praia da Malhada, which is a great place for swimming and contemplation.

Another route (and closer if leaving Kanaloa Pousada) is via the Morro do Serrote trail. Without a doubt, a lush landscape in complete contact with the local biome. Donkeys, horses and cows are often seen in families on the hill that provides a wonderful view of the village from its upper part. The Jericoacoara lighthouse is also located on Morro do Serrote. Keep in mind that much of the fun of the tour is the path and its beauty!

Finally, Pedra Furada. Sculpted by nature via sea waves, it is a rock formation located on Jericoacoara Beach, 4 kilometers from the village. It is the symbol that characterizes the famous beach, today internationally known as one of the most beautiful on our planet.
In the month of July it is possible to see the sun set through the hole in the stone. It takes approximately 40 minutes to 1 hour to walk to get there depending on the route chosen.

Some important notices:
It is forbidden to climb the rock and degrade the place. There is a service from local vendors who circulate constantly along the winding path selling coconut water, soft drinks, cold beer and mineral water in a Styrofoam box for your comfort.
